2010 Annual Charity Fundraiser

 

“A Tribute to the Majesty of Thoroughbreds”

After the Finish Line’s 2010 Annual Charity Fundraiser, “A Tribute to the Majesty of Thoroughbreds”, was a great success. Our fundraiser was held on August 5th in Del Mar, California across from the Del Mar racetrack. After the Finish Line would like to thank our guests and donors who helped us surpass our funding goal for the Thoroughbred ex-racehorses.

We welcomed returning guests from past fundraisers and also make new friends. We thank Brushwood Stables, Hall of Fame trainer Jack Van Berg who served as our auctioneer and speaker, our master of ceremonies Mike Villani, our board members and fundraiser committee. The racing industry and retail businesses contributed to making our silent auction a success.

We are extremely grateful for the donations to our live auction that included a seat at the World Poker Tour (WPT) Invitational Tournament, a day in a luxury suite at the Del mar racetrack, jewelry from Diamond Boutique and artwork from renowned Thoroughbred artist Fred Stone.

The money raised will provide funding to qualified rescue organizations in California and across the United States who save, care for and rehabilitate these talented ex-racehorses so they can transition and excel in a second career. After the Finish Line awards monthly emergency funds and yearly grants to qualified rescue organizations throughout the United States. We look forward to seeing you at next year’s Del Mar fundraiser!

Let After the Finish Line "paint" with your horse(s)! Your horse will create a colorful, one of a kind masterpiece. What a wonderful experience and cherished painting for the horse’s owner. We named these paintings Equine Designs™. To learn more or make an appointment to paint, please contact
Dawn at dawn@afterthefinishline.org. (Currently limited to So. CA) These paintings are a conversation piece in your home or office. They are unique Holiday presents, special occasion presents or a personal gift for you.

After the Finish Line will come to your home or barn to paint with your horse(s). Your horse may choose up to four paint colors. The painting can include a hoof print and tail hair tied with ribbon. Put your horses painting in a matte measuring approximately 16" x 20" and then frame!


After the Finish Line is a 501 (c) 3 funding non-profit dedicated to helping Thoroughbred horses that can no longer race or breed. The proceeds of these paintings will enable us to award monthly emergency funds and yearly grants to help the rescued ex-racehorses in California and across the United States. They should not be forgotten in their time of need. Board members are volunteers and do not receive a salary. Equine Designs™  lets horses help horses. The funds raised helps deserving ex-racehorses and broodmares transition into second careers such as hunter/jumpers, dressage, polo, trail, companion or therapy horses.
